Aiken Community Playhouse presents "Outside Mullingar"

“Outside Mullingar,” an Irish story about two adults who are fighting their way towards happiness, opens at Aiken Community Playhouse on Aug. 11.Anthony and Rosemary are two introverted misfits straddling their 40s. Anthony is a painfully shy man, who has spent his entire life on a cattle farm in rural Ireland. Rosemary, who lives right next door, is determined to have him, watching the years slip away. As Anthony’s father threatens to disinherit him and a land feud simmers between the two families, Rosemary fears romantic catastrophe. As the play unfolds, watch as Anthony and Rosemary learn it’s never too late to fall in love.Written by John Patrick Shanley, “Outside Mullingar” was a Tony Award nominee for Best Play. The play showcases how hard these eccentric souls will fight to find happiness.The show dates are Aug. 11, 12, 18 and 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Aug. 13 at 3 p.m.
